

Wayne Foster Howell, 83, of Bettendorf, passed away Monday, January 19, 2025, at Mercy One/Genesis East Hospital in Davenport. His heart grew weaker and weaker over the last three months until it stopped. Now he is in heaven with the Jesus he believed in. Cremation rites will be provided. There will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, 724 W. 2nd Avenue in Milan in his memory.
Wayne was born April 23, 1942, in Davenport, the son of Elvin and Grace (Foster) Howell. He graduated from Bettendorf High School and went on to graduate from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science. He married Helen Preston on September 25, 1965, in Davenport and they were married 60 years. He was an interesting man who loved history, politics, and animals. Wayne was an amazing leather craftsman and enjoyed working on all sorts of projects with his son Mark.
He worked in the Environmental Services Department at Genesis Medical Center for numerous years before retiring. Together with his wife Helen, Wayne attended Milan Christian Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Helen, sons, Mark (Juanita) Howell, Davenport and Steve Howell, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Zach Howell, Ankeny, IA and Noel Howell, Davenport and Anna Howell, Montana, sister, Joan (Tom) Lahl, Moline, numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Chloe. His parents preceded him in death.
