

Wendell was born on October 20, 1943 in Galesburg, IL to parents, Glen and Ruth (Gustafson) Peterson. Wendell graduated from Sherrard High School in 1961. He served in the Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972. Wendell was a Semi Truck Driver his entire working career and retired from Wenger Truck Lines in 2009. It was at work that Wendell met his wife, Helen. They were married on August 25, 1995 in Las Vegas, NV. Together, they enjoyed traveling and spending time with their beloved dog, Snoopy.
Family was a central part of Wendell’s life; especially his children and grandchildren. He found great joy in watching his grandchildren play sports and loved to spend time together with family. Wendell checked in on his family, friends, and neighbors regularly, always offering a helping hand. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and talking to anyone who crossed his path. Wendell attended Saint Johns United Methodist Church (Davenport, IA). His outgoing personality is missed, but his love continues on.
Those left to honor Wendell’s memory include his wife, Helen Peterson; children, Lisa (Dion) Perkins, Doug (Lindsey) Peterson; grandchildren, Tevin (Aundrea) Robbins, Aaliyah Perkins, Raine Peterson, Mavrik Peterson; great-grandchildren, Maya and Remi; siblings, Ronnie (Martha) Peterson, Gloria (Terry) Waldbusser, Nancy Rossi; sister-in-laws, Cheryl Peterson and Dionne (Larry) Otten; and a brother-in-law, Larry (Myram) Daily along with several nieces, nephews, and their families.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents; Glen and Ruth (Gustafson) Peterson; brother, Larry Peterson; brother-in-law, Dick Rossi and mother-in-law, Martha Daily.
