

William Patrick McDonald “Pat” passed away at home on March 21, 2024 after a long battle with COPD. He was surrounded by his loving family. Cremation rites have been accorded per his wishes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, to be announced by the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.com.
Pat was born on September 6, 1947 to Harry and Esther (Anglese) McDonald in Rock Island, IL. He served his country as a Marine during the Vietnam War from 1965-1968. Pat was united in marriage to Jolyn Jorgensen on April 6, 1966 in Galena, IL. Pat and Jolyn were married for almost 58 years.
Pat grew up in the west end of Davenport. He played little league and wrestled in high school. He attended Palmer Junior College and the University of Iowa. Pat was self employed as a pipe insulator and later owned McCasa Mexican Restaurant in three different locations. He was known as “Taco Man”. Pat loved food and to cook for his family. He loved sports especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. Pat coached his son in many sports in the North Scott area. He loved watching and supporting his grandchildren’s sports and activities.
Pat enjoyed fishing and golfing in his spare time.
Pat is survived by his loving wife Jolyn; children Melissa (Joe) Brimeyer, Stephanie (Scott) Hanke, Megan (Ben) Sheeler, Scott (Lindsey) McDonald; grandchildren Ryan Brimeyer, Rachel (Ethan) Nelson, Alexis (Ethan) McDonald, Isabel (Nick) Brimeyer, Bryce Hanke, Kiernan Sheeler, Landon McDonald, Emma Sheeler, Zach Wiese; sister in law Jaclyn Dooley and brother in law Jack Denger; and nieces and nephews. He had a special bond with his cat Katherine.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Esther McDonald and his in-laws Howard and Betty Jorgensen; sister Donna Denger and son in law Al Hanke; brother in law Jon Jorgensen and niece Rene Dooley.
