William Leo Peterson

William Leo “Bill” Peterson, 85, of Davenport, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 in Davenport. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 11:30 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 until the service. Memorials may be made to the Davenport Lutheran Home.

Bill was born May 17, 1926 in Yankton, SD, the son of Leo W. and Hildred (Haselmann) Peterson.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Cornish on July 24, 1954 in Peoria, IL.

Bill worked as a truck driver for many area businesses including Merchant Transfer, 25 years at A&P Food Store and10 years for Smith Transfer. He was an avid boater and enjoyed camping. He was a life member of the Davenport Moose Lodge and a member of the American Legion Post #26 of Davenport, the AAA Plus 60 Club and the Mack Million Mile Club.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dorothy “Dottie”, sons, Craig (Debbie) Peterson, Dublin, OH; Bruce Peterson, Waukesha, WI; daughter, Pat (Floyd) Cooke, Ankeny, IA; grandchildren: Zachary and Sarah Peterson; Jennifer and Barry Morris; Natalie Cooke; Angie Johnson; Bob, Kris, Jason, Michael and James Peterson; twelve great grandchildren and sisters: Karen (Les) Bloomer, Davenport and Lois Barrett, Golden, CO.

His parents, sons, Michael and Louis and brothers, Robert and Richard preceded him in death.
