

Daryl "Shorty" Schroeder passed away April 30th, 2014 after a long fight with Alzheimer's. He was preceded in death by his parents Archie and Frances Schroeder. Shorty was born in Wilbur Washington in 1941 and raised on a farm south of Wilbur. He leaves behind his dedicated and loving wife, Raedine Schroeder. He is also survived and loved by brothers Delbert (Kaye) and Ted Schroeder (Carol) sister Faye (Schroeder) Strickland (Mike), children Lance Schroeder and Jan (Schroeder) Whiting (Lynn) and 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Shorty enjoyed his life on the farm and developed a love for geology and the outdoors. He graduated from Wilbur High in 1959. He then studied diesel mechanics at Spokane Community College. He worked in the mines of Northern Idaho, which fostered a life long love of rocks. He then moved back to Wilbur to work the family farm. He was able to fix and build anything, and had an innate work ethic that endured throughout his sickness. He lived and enjoyed his life in the Pacific Northwest. He was loved and will be missed by many. Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wilbur Washington on Saturday, May 10th at 11:30 AM.
