Jeffrey Dene Chrisman, 51, passed away suddenly at his home in Creston, Washington, on the evening of May 21, 2019. His friend Stephanie Elrod was with him when he collapsed and began CPR before the Creston ambulance and EMTs arrived. He was transported to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport but could not be revived. Jeff was born in Lincoln Hospital on February 13, 1968 to Merlin and Alice Chrisman. He lived in Creston most of his life and attended the Creston School before enrolling in Spokane Community College for a period of time. He worked for several area farmers and spent time in a variety of jobs including construction and logging, and even tried his hand on a fishing boat and fish cannery in Alaska. Most recently, he worked for 20 years as a machine operator at an Airway Heights factory, before starting work as a fork-lift operator in Davenport. He was a past member of the Creston Fire Department. Jeff loved the outdoors and over the years spent unlimited hours cutting and splitting firewood for people throughout the area. Many northwest Lincoln County residents depended on him for their winter heat. He enjoyed trips to the ocean along the Washington coast, picking huckleberries on Sherman Pass, snow skiing, rafting in area lakes, and NASCAR racing. For years, he spent as much time as he could on his family's beautiful, secluded property near Hawk Creek, where he cut wood, picnicked, and visited the graves of his beloved pets in the animal cemetery he created there. Jeff also enjoyed photographing the abundance of wildlife that frequent the area, while he relished the peaceful solitude of the site. Though he sometimes led a troubled life, Jeff is remembered by many who knew him as a fearless dare-devil, an extremely hard worker, and a generous, caring person who would do just about anything for those in need of help. He was also known for his deep love for his children. Jeff is survived by his parents, Alice and Merlin Chrisman; his sons, Brady Hearrean (Bre) and Kiernan Chrisman (Megan); his sister Polly McIrvin (Andy); five grandchildren; a niece and three nephews; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and good friend, Stephanie Elrod. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Aubrey and Irene Chrisman and Ed and Katy Hamilton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Chapel of Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, WA at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Creston Fire Department or the Wilbur Food Bank. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.stratefuneralhome.com for the Chrisman family. Strate Funeral Home, Davenport, WA is caring for the family.

Hugs to all the Chrismans today. Jeff & I went to school together in Creston for 13 years. When there’s only 10 in your class — you are family - not classmates!!!
My favorite memory of him was always the last day of the Girl Scout Rummage sale, which our moms worked on together, was 10 cent Sunday. Jeff would come in & buy EVERY small appliance and electronic— because they were only 10 cents each. He would take his treasure trove home because he wanted to take each one apart to see how it worked!!! It must have been a lot of trips home on his bike that he rode everywhere!!! Even at 10 years old he wanted to be “working” on something!!! I pray for peace & comfort to all your loved ones as they deal with this very sudden hole in their hearts. RIP my friend. You will be missed. ❤️

The Team at Lightning Nuggets would like to honor Jeff Chrisman and his life, cut way too short. His passing was an enormous loss, not only as an employee and co-worker, but as a friend. He was also a loving companion to Stephanie as well as Kiernan's father. He was encouraging and supportive, and always made time to help others. He never asked for anything in return.
Most of us only knew Jeff for a small time, but he made such an enormous impact on us all. When you meet someone like Jeff, you know you have made a true friend. He had a warm smile that made people feel important and understood.
Jeff was a man of integrity and generosity. He would find ways to incorporate humor into almost any situation. He took pride in his work, and was always diligent and dependable.
We are all shocked and saddened by the loss of Jeff, and are incredibly grateful to have known him. He will be missed so very much.
The Lightning Nuggets team would like to offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to all of Jeff’s family and friends.

My husband and I have many memories with Jeff, and they will be always cherished. Jeff and Gene were such best friend for all their lives, I still hear old and even new stories about these two. Jeff surely will be remembered being a hard worker with a heart of gold. He had never a second thought when someone was in need of help. When he was around, not working all the hours at his job - he helped. It’s still unbelievable that we all lost a dear family member/ friend. I believe we are all still in shock. Our deepest condolences and Prayers going to his family and friends. He will be missed until we all meet again. ❤️🙏❤️

Mr and Mrs Chrisman and Polly and family.
I am so sorry about Jeff. He definitely was one of a kind with a heart so big. He helped lots of people with his kindness. He always had big smile and a bear hug to give each time we saw him.
I just got some more large mouth jars. We were going to surprise him with canned peaches this year . I never knew a person that could eat them like he could.
I hope with all of the comments of what a good person he was, that you know it was alot do to you. You raised a good man who worked hard and cared for people. Jeff will be missed by lots of people.
