

Was born in Spokane, Washington on March 20th, 1946 to parents Clarence and Lenora (Schultz) Hardt. He passed away unexpectedly in his hometown of Odessa, WA on July 31st, 2024.
John grew up on his family’s farm and attended school in Wilson Creek; graduating from high school in 1964. He attended Spokane Community College, studying Aeronautical Mechanics, was drafted into the Army and served as an MP in Viet Nam. Following his service in the Army, John worked for United Airlines in California before returning to Odessa with his family. Upon his return he worked as a crop duster before becoming a full time farmer until his retirement.
Never one to be idle, John was always tinkering with projects and willing to help his friends and family whenever something needed to be fixed.
John was an active and dedicated member of the VFW. Along with his fellow veterans and community volunteers, he spent countless hours putting up flags for holidays and special events; serving in the color/honor guards for parades, funerals & community functions, and educating the public about the importance of supporting American veterans.
John will be remembered for his love of flying, fishing, hunting, motorcycles, and his love for friends and family. He had a big heart, a bigger grin, and a contagious laugh that always made you smile (if you’ve heard it…you know)!
He is survived by his wife, Karin, at home; children Jason (Kim), Jesse (Jen), Wayne Wraspir (Darice), and Angela Griffith (Scott), brothers Delbert and Rick (Vicky), along with sisters Karen and Julie. John was the very proud grandpa of: Stefanie, Amanda, Logan, Cameron, Hayden, Sydney, Zachary, and great-granddaughter, Ava. He will also be missed by an aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
Military internment at the Odessa Cemetery on Friday, August 30,, 2024 at 11:00 AM followed by.A Celebration of Life memorial services at 12:00 pm at the Heritage Church in Odessa.
