Went home to His Lord and Savior on February 3, 2026. Born March 17, 1958 to Jim and Joycelyn (Houger) Madden, he was the first born of three siblings. His early years were spent just outside of Creston until his second grade. The family then moved south of Wilbur and eventually over to Keller. While in high school, Pat participated in a People-to-People tour of Europe, wrestled, and worked his way up through Scouts achieving Eagle Scout rank. Pat graduated from Wilbur High School and went on to attend Whitworth College, graduating with a BA in International Relations. As a young boy, Pat would spend hours drawing detailed army battle scenes, so it was not surprising that he chose the military as a career.
Pat was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and went on to serve over 20 years as a distinguished military officer. In 1983, he married his college sweetheart, Lisa. To this union five boys were born. He received his Masters of Science in Strategic Intelligence and served in Bosnia. His military career was full of adventures and took him places he never imagined. He earned much recognition for his excellence over the years.
After retiring active duty service he wanted to focus on gospel work in areas of crisis. He traveled to many dangerous hot spots to bring relief and the gospel, and in the summers developed and ran Disaster Assistance Relief Training Conferences. After a few years working with missions projects stateside and overseas, he began government contracting work again, while supporting the ongoing overseas work he began, until his diagnosis in 2019.
Pat spent his life serving the Lord through caring for his family, nation, and fellow man. He cherished his family and is deeply loved. The impact of his life continues on in truly stunning proportions seen in ever increasing numbers of lives being changed for the good. Only those who knew him best can fully appreciate the riches of God’s grace that turned his life around so dramatically and propelled him to live like he did. He’ll be sorely missed but live on in our memories. His life’s prayer was to see others embrace the abundant life Christ offers and live it fully, with grace and kindness and true love for each other.
Pat is survived by his wife Lisa; his three boys; Nathan (Amber), Micah (Jessica), David (Raisa); two grandsons, Liam and Leo; one granddaughter, Avery; his mother, Joycelyn; a brother Dan (Tracy); and a sister, Shan. He was proceeded in death by his twin boys, Timothy and Joel; a niece, Caitlin, and his father, Jim Madden.
Services for Patrick Madden will be held at the Strate Funeral Home Chapel, Davenport, WA on March 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Military graveside honors will follow at the Creston Cemetery, Creston, WA followed by a reception at the Creston School multipurpose/Cafeteria Room.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites remembrance by spending time in God's word and time with family and friends.
