Luz Marina Rego

April 5, 1939 – April 10, 2025

Luz Marina Rego, a radiant soul and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, in Weston, Florida, at the age of 86.

Born on April 5, 1939, in Jagüey Grande, Cuba, Luz immigrated to the United States and spent the majority of her life in South Florida, living in Miami, Pembroke Pines, and most recently Weston, where she spent the last 20 years surrounded by the love of her family.

She is survived by her children, Guillermo Rego Jr., Rudolph Rego, and Barbara Rego Castro; her cherished grandchildren, Miguel Martinez, Michelle Martinez, Brandon Rego, Kristen Rego, Marshall Maurice, Hunter Rego, Rhys Castro, and Taylor Castro; her great-granddaughter, Kiwi Ne’Oki Rocha Castro; her devoted son-in-law, Eric Castro; and her loving daughters-in-law, Morgen Rego and Stacey Rego.

Luz was the heart and soul of her family—a source of warmth, creativity, and unwavering love. She had an eye for beauty and expression, which she shared through her passion for photography, painting, flower arranging, and decorating. She made every holiday magical, every room brighter, and every gathering more joyful. A talented hairdresser by trade and an artist by nature, she brought color and flair to the everyday.

She found joy in the simple pleasures—thrifting, dancing, traveling, and laughing with loved ones. She made people feel seen, safe, and deeply loved. Her strength, humor, and passionate spirit were the threads that held generations together. Through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild—each of whom carries a piece of her legacy—her light continues to shine.

Luz is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Guillermo Rego; her dear daughter, Luz Marina Rego Jr.; her parents, Pastora Amaro Sanchez and Marcial La Rosa; and her cherished sister, Mina.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home, 2401 S University Drive, Davie, FL 33324. All who knew her are welcome to attend and honor a life so beautifully lived
