

Rudy was born in Buffalo, NY, to John and Ines Rigo on June 30th, 1928. He served in the Marines during World War II. Rudy was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for Lake Erie. He was the flotilla commander and taught classes including Safe Boating.
During his time in Buffalo, NY, Rudy was a pioneer in scuba diving. During this time he supported law enforcement and the Canadian military as a civilian diver by assisting with underwater searches.
In 1970, the family moved to Dania Beach, FL, where he joined the Dania Police Department as an auxiliary officer and rose to the position of Police Chief.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years, Rosemarie.
Rudy is survived by his daughter Sandra Marie and his son-in-law Will E. Hamel.
Visitation will be held from 6 PM to 10 PM on Tuesday, January 21st, at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home (2401 S. University Dr., Davie, FL 33324). The burial will take place at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL on Wednesday, January 22nd, at 11:00 AM.
