Sahada BRENTON Mangaroo was born on February 4, 1950, to the loving parents of Chutkan Mangaroo and Ethlyn Mangaroo in St. Catherine, Jamaica. ‘Brenton’ as he was affectionately known as, was the last child of nine born to this union. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings: Wilmot, Roslyn (Barney), Leslie, Gloria, Pearl, and Oscar. Two devoted sisters, Violet and Sylvia, survive him.
Brenton graduated from Dinthill Technical High School in Jamaica. After graduating, he worked at Innswood Sugar Estate as an agriculturalist and an accountant after which he opened his own business, Ideal Warehousing, and worked along with Transconex Shipping Company for years. He later retired and migrated to the United States where he resided in Florida and married the love of his life, Apstead Joy Fong.
A man of the outdoors, Brenton cherished nature and enjoyed fishing, swimming, crabbing, shrimping, game shooting, agriculture, and sports—particularly cricket, the “gentleman’s game.” He took immense pride in planting fruit trees, delighted in nurturing them to bear and happily sharing the harvest with all. Brenton was enthusiastic about dominoes approaching the game with a fiercely competitive spirit. Affable and charming, Brenton made connections easily with people, a gift. There was never a dull moment in his presence as he appreciated life. He was selfless and generous of his time, talent, and treasures. Hospitable by nature, he enjoyed cooking and entertaining. Brenton found the greatest joy in sharing his culinary creations with his wife, children, family, and friends.
Brenton transitioned peacefully from this earthly life on April 22, 2025. His memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Apstead Joy; daughters, Shakera and Tamara; stepchildren, Michael, Christopher, and Karen; step-grandchildren, Kristian, Gabrielle, Logan, and Hunter; step great-grandson, Kayden; sisters, Violet Salmon and Sylvia Baghaloo; cousin, Evelyn Williams; and nephews, nieces, extended family members (Baghaloo, Black, Mangaroo, Rocto, Salmon, Thompson, Wood families) and dear friends.
Brenton was truly a man who gave and received love abundantly. His vibrant spirit, devotion to family and friends, and joyful appreciation for life leaves a legacy to treasure forever.
