Anne was a devoted wife and best friend to her husband, Barry Crane and a loving mother to Jessica Dougherty and a cherished stepmother to Ryan Crane. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to Charlotte Dougherty, who brought immense light and happiness into the life of her “Amma.” She is also survived by her son-in-law, Taylor Dougherty.
Anne had two older sisters, Debbie Snyder and Becky DiSalvo, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and unwavering family bonds. She was a proud and loving aunt to Debbie’s children JB Snyder and Kelli Kelly (Patrick), and Becky’s children Greg DiSalvo (Mei), Joe DiSalvo (Gaby), and Lauren O’Donnell (Dan), as well as great nieces Lumi DiSalvo, and Cami and Lila O’Donnell. She was a daughter-in-law to George Crane, sister-in-law to Laurie Sphar, and aunt to Ashley Sphar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and James Kelly, her brother Jimmy, and her mother-in-law, Mary Lou Crane.
A graduate of Wright State University, Anne spent a very long career as a defense contractor. She supported the US Air Force in many roles on various programs. She was driven, demanding excellence in her teams both as a coworker and as a leader. People who worked for her will remember her red pen corrections. As a mentor, she helped empower people into wonderful coworkers and amazing lifelong friendships. She transitioned to independent consulting work on large-scale software projects until she retired in July 2025.
Those who knew Anne will remember her for her warmth, kindness, and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and cared for. Her love for family was the foundation of her life, and her presence brought comfort, strength, and joy to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton or St. Vincent de Paul.
