Barbara Ann Byrd

Barbara Ann Byrd, age 80, of Tipp City, Ohio passed away May 16, 2026, at Story Point in Tipp City. She was born on September 01, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Rita Marguerite and Forrest William Byrd. Alongside her parents Barbara is preceded in death by her Brother; Forrest Byrd.

She is survived by her Children; Deanna M. (Vincent) Lasher, Anita C. (Gene) Schwarzman and Christopher C. Coyle, Brothers; William Byrd, Timothy (Janet) Byrd, James (Ann) Byrd, Richard (Diana) Byrd, Fred (Jean) Byrd, Sisters; Peggy (Willie) Lalk, Janet (Brent) Sorrell, Mary (Rob) Schutt, Sister-in-Law; Diana Byrd, and 21 Nieces and Nephews.

Barbara was raised on a dairy farm in a home built by her father in Spring Valley, Ohio. She was the second of 10 children and helped her mom with the housekeeping and the younger children. She sometimes even helped with the farm chores. Barbara graduated from Bellbrook High School and went on to graduate with an Associates of Applied Science degree from Sinclair Community College and a Bachelors of Science in Business from Wright State University. She earned both of her degrees while working full-time and raising three children.

Barbara excelled at typing and stenography. She began her career in the secretarial pool at DESC where she worked up to a Contract Specialist. Barbara retired from DESC after 31 years of service. Alongside her work at DESC she did some modeling for local department store advertisements.

Barbara enjoyed sewing from a very young age. She made clothing and patches for her children’s clothing for many years. She was known for making hot pads and gifting them to everyone she had a connection with. Alongside her love for sewing, Barbara had a life-long affinity for brown cows, ice cream, and enjoyed looking back at the fond memories of the time spent with her siblings and cousins at their summer cottage.

A visitation will be held on May 28, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Tobias Funeral Home; 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, Ohio. A funeral service will follow starting at 12:30 pm.
