
Garwood Jr., Bevan E. age 69, of Beavercreek, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at Soin Medical Center following a courageous battle against cancer. He was a graduate of Xenia High School class of 1965. He earned his bachelor's degree from Central State University and a master's degree in education from Wright State University. He was a history and government teacher and coach for Beavercreek High School from 1969-83 and served as the BHS athletics director from 1983 until his retirement in 2000. He was inducted into the Beavercreek High School Athletic Hall of Fame - Class of 2012. He was inducted into the Xenia High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014 as a member of the 1964 Western Ohio League Championship Football Team, for which he was also named a First Team All-State and Honorable Mention All-American for his efforts. He is survived by his wife Connie, son Scott and daughter Shelley, son-in-law David, grandchildren Maya and Jacob and his beloved terrier Brandy, as well as many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Bevan Sr. and his brother Terry. Calling hours will be from 10-noon on Saturday, April 9 at Tobias Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road with a memorial service to follow at noon.
