Bhag Singh Sidhu passed away peacefully on February 2, 2022 due to natural causes at the age of 77. He was born on May 14, 1944 in the Punjab region of Northern India to Late Inder Singh and Charan Kaur where he spent the majority of his childhood. He was immersed in the Sikh community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. Later in life, he married Ranjit Kaur on December 9th, 1966 and started a family where they both were blessed with five children; 3 boys and 2 girls.
During his time in India, Bhag served as the former Municipal Council President for the city of Dharamkot in the state of Punjab, India where his civil service efforts were notable. He also participated in regional recreational sports such as Kabaddi (wrestling) along with track and field sports such as the long jump and shot put.
Bhag immigrated to the United States in 1986 in order to start a better life for his family. He worked hard his whole life to provide for his loved ones so that they could have the opportunity to live even better lives. After years of hard work and once his children were married, he frequently visited his home country and spent most of his days traveling to religious places. As a devout Sikh (religion which originated in Punjab, India), he would find peace and comfort in visiting various Gurudwaras (temples) across India and participating in Seva (service) to help those in need in the community.
Bhag was a kind and softly spoken human being who always made time for his family and friends, no matter how small the task. Most importantly, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren and teach them the discipline and humility which he learned from practicing Sikhism. He will be dearly missed by all of his loved ones and community members.
Bhag is survived by his wife, Ranjit Kaur; his sons Pavitar, Bachitar Sidhu and Varinder Randhawa; his daughters Harshinder and Bhupinder Kaur; his son-in-laws; Devinder Sandhu and Jagtar Singh; his daughter-in-laws; Harpreet Kaur, Baljinder Kaur, and Hardeep Kaur; his grandchildren Karamveer, Jiwanjot, Ramandeep, Navjot, Veerinder, Simran, Sartaj, Harman, Sukhmani, Yuvraj, Seerat, and Arjun; his sibling Hardeep Kaur, and Kahan Singh Sidhu. He is preceded in death by his eldest son Sumitter Sidhu, and his oldest sibling Pritam Singh, Naseeb Kaur, Mohinder Kaur, youngest sibling Sarban Singh.
