Carmel Mary Merendo

Merendo, Carmel Mary, age 91, of Fairborn passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek. She was born on November 2, 1921, in Girard, OH to Peter and Antoinette (DiTommasso) Valloreo, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Merendo and a grandson, Matthew Gouldbourn. Carmel is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Anthony Merendo, of Fairborn; a son, Anthony (Tina Kilpatrick) Merendo, Jr., of Tucson, AZ; three daughters and sons-in-law, Celeste (Wallace) Johnson, Valerie Abate, Candice (Barry) Hardin; a daughter-in-law, Charlene Merendo, of Tucson, AZ; a sister, Adeline Congemi, of Pataskala, OH; grandchildren, Daphne Parks, Jeff Johnson, Nicholas Merendo; great grandchildren, Maya and Adam Parks, Jade and Jordan Johnson. She is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends. Carmel was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, The St. Luke Leisure Club, Sons of Italy, The Daughters of Isabella, Ladies Auxillary of the American Legion and the Ladies Auxillary of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3724. Prayers will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. from St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 North Fairfield Road with Father Terry Schneider officiating. Entombment will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013.
