

RIFFLE, Rev. Charvin Lee, 94, of Kettering, passed away peacefully in July 2025. Born in Johnstown, West Virginia, in 1930, Lee grew up in the hills near Richwood and later on a farm in Drennen, WV. He served honorably as a U.S. Army Combat Medic during the Korean War with the 27th Infantry "Wolfhounds," earning the Korean Service and United Nations Service Medals.
After the war, he pursued training in electronics with a career that spanned welding, electronics, and field engineering with companies including Babcock & Wilcox, Goodyear, Bruel & Kjaer, Honeywell, and Systems Research Labs. He lived and worked in Ohio most of his life, helping his father build a home in Barberton, then moving to Brookpark near Cleveland, and later settling in Dayton.
Lee was ordained by the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ, serving at several churches in Ohio. He held a private pilot’s license and was a member of a local flying club until health concerns led him to stop flying. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved sharing stories of West Virginia, family, and faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Riffle. He is survived by his son, Gregory (Carol) Riffle, seven grandchildren, Ben Riffle (J.J. Kellogg), Joshua Riffle, David (Kaci), Sarah (Nathan) Mellor, Rebecca Riffle (Martin Piszkiewicz), Abigail (Matthew) Miller, Luke Riffle, and five great-grandchildren.
