

Darice Lynn Campbell-Brown of Bethel, Ohio, passed away on October 20, 2025 at the University of Cincinnati Hospital while undergoing surgery in her fight against cancer. She was born at Kirk Army Hospital, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland on May 14th, 1970.
Darice moved with her family to Beavercreek, Ohio, in 1982. She attended Ankeney Middle School and graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1988. She earned her Registered Nurse degree at Sinclair Community College in 1998 and began her career in nursing at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton in 1999, where she became a shift supervisor for surgical patients. She later worked 2 years in the ER at Good Sam. She moved to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton and taught clinical practice to new LPN s. Darice joined the staff at the University of Cincinnati Hospital where she initially worked in the Transitional Care Unit of the ER. Over the next 14 years, Darice specialized in patient care in UC's ER Clinical Decision Unit and later the hospital's surgical and specialty patients in the Central Monitoring Unit.
Darice dedicated her life to helping others and tirelessly devoted herself to caring for those who needed her kindness and concern. She loved all animals, and was known to her pets as "Mommy.”Darice was passionate, quick-witted, loved to joke, and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an avid Jacksonville Jaguars football fan, cited players names and statistics, and attended games whenever she could. She loved music of all kinds and attended concerts often, especially to support local bands.
Darice loved to camp and travel and, as a youngster, was able to visit many different places in the States and Europe due to her father's military career. She had lived in Maryland, Alabama, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Kentucky, and Germany, and traveled throughout the eastern half of the United States, and the Southwest. While living in Germany, she and her family traveled to France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Berlin and East Germany, Sweden, and extensively in her mother's native country of Finland. She looked forward to touring the States with her husband, Dave, in their recent RV along with her dog Zuma and cats, Lumpy, Smokey, and Neo. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and Nana, and was very proud of her family.
Darice was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, two aunts and an uncle and a cousin in Finland, her paternal grandparents, aunt and uncle in Pennsylvania, and her adoptive maternal grandparents and uncle in Connecticut, in addition to her older sister Denise.
She is survived by her husband of 12 years, David Lee Brown, of Marysville, Ohio; her adopted son, Jacob Duff, his wife, Jasna, son Cameron, and daughter Mila of Lebanon, Ohio; her parents, Sirkka and Dr. Dennis Campbell of Beavercreek, Ohio; her sister, Lisa and husband Todd Bauer of Tucson, Arizona; niece Olivia Bauer and nephew Joshua Bauer of Bellbrook, Ohio.
Surviving her in Connecticut are her aunt Percalie Williamson, uncle Phil Monty (Jeanne); aunt Jo Oulette (John); and aunt Michelle Monty; cousins Michelle Faille (Brian), Debbie Coggshall (Brian); Amber Oulette, Lena Rossi (Michael), Christopher Monty (Danni), Adam McDougal, and numerous second cousins.
In Pennsylvania, she is survived by her cousins Cathy Campbell, Carin Campbell, and Julie Van Kirk (Jared) with 3 second cousins.
Surviving her in Finland are her step-uncle Risto Auvinen, step-aunt Arja Auvinen, aunt Aiju Laukkanen, and aunt Aila Irjasdotter from Sweden; her cousins Tuula Auvinen, Marja Auvinen, Eero Auvinen (Miia), Dr. Anikki Mäkeläinen, Heli Mäkeläinen (Veikko), Kalle Mäkeläinenen, Kaisa Karvinen, Jukka Karvinen (Arja), Oda Lähdenperä, Arja Tsupukka, Matti Tsupukka, and Mika Etelämäki and numerous second cousins.
A visitation for Darice will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Tobias Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45432.
