

Born on May 27, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to the late Robert and Mary Bauer Chapman, Darrell lived a life full of laughter, love, and unforgettable stories. For 46 years, he was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sonya, and together they built a home filled with joy, humor, and unwavering love.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sonya Husk Chapman; daughters, Shannon McCroskey and Victoria Chavers; grandchildren, Monix Villamar, Joey Chavers, Alexa Chavers, Elias McCroskey, and Brennan McCroskey; and great-grandchildren, Gavin Combs, Aiden Combs, Malaina Chavers, and Colby Chavers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Bauer Chapman.
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Darrell lived a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable stories. A U.S. Navy veteran, he survived both an airplane and helicopter crash and was once lost at sea for two days — a testament to his resilience and strength.
Darrell enjoyed the simple joys of fishing, camping, painting, cooking outdoors, and making arts and crafts with his kids and grandkids. He was a loving father and grandfather who always had a funny story to tell and a lesson to teach.
He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
