David Lee Layer of Beavercreek, Ohio went to be with the lord on Thursday October 30, 2014. He is survived by his wife, DeDe Layer and daughter Lindsey Layer as well as daughter Darci Bowles and son David F. Layer, sisters Dorothy Miller, Donna Hancock, Doris Gray and Darlene Howard. Dave was the owner and operator of Heads-Up Cylinder Heads for the last 30 years and had a passion in his life for everything that involved drag racing. He leaves a legacy to the sport of drag racing that will be greatly missed. As a family, we have many cherished memories of such a hard working man. Dave was a man of few words, but when spoken his words were profound. His actions have always been like a hidden gem, always laying low and all of a sudden surprising you with a genuine statement. Family and friends are welcome for a Celebration of Life at Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. from 2-5 PM on Sunday November 2. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to DRAW (Drag Racing Association of Women) www.drawfasthelp.org or RFC (Racers for Christ) www.teamrfc.org.
