David Allen Smith, 64, born May 28, 1959 went home to Heaven Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 2:42 a.m. in the morning, just shy of his 65th Birthday. David was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Robert & Zada Smith. He is survived by his wife Emiliana Smith, Son Kevin Ellison, Daughter Michelle Ispold, Granddaughter Kauner Earley and Siblings Melody Kelley and Husband Barry Kelley, Elizabeth Ford and Husband Brian Ford, Sister-In-Law Sofie Haney, Niece Amanda Elrod, Melody’s Daughter, Great Niece, Aria Elrod. It’s also important to mention how much David loves his precious cat Sissy. He is preceded in death by Father Robert R. Smith, Mother Zada R. Smith (Pitstick), Step-Father Kenneth Pitstick, and Sister Sanda R. Smith.
You could always tell when David walked in a room because he never met a stranger. He was filled with a passion for life, music, poetry, nature, animals and hunting, politics, gun collecting, archery and target practice. He won several awards for his writing, free verse poetry. He has over 1335 poems and songs. His music is playing on airwaves in the United States and around the world. He went to Nashville and a cd was produced with his music and writing. He won a prestigious trail-blazer award. He attended both Sinclair and Wittenberg University where he was the lead role in the Opera Esther. Many people had David sing as a soloist at local weddings, funerals & community events. His beautiful voice and writing has recorded several songs that have reached the top of the charts. His family asked him what his favorite song is, he would reply, “there are so many.” Right before he passed, he shared his favorite is by Debra Allen, “The Art of Dreaming.”
David was an incredible Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother Musician, Writer, Conversationalists and Friend. He loved to talk about Mysteries in the woods like his Cherokee heritage, big-foot and other legends. He especially loved watching fun tv shows with his Granddaughter Kauner. When he was asked about his favorite Bible verse, he said, “there are too many to pick just one.” Those of us who knew him well knew he liked Psalm 23.
David often talked about his love of Jesus and Heaven, missing many family members that have gone on before Him. We are comforted by thoughts of him joining in the Angelic Choirs and Singing with the Angels having a great reunion. Just like David in the Bible, Our David, had a life-long friendship with his brother from a different Mother, David French and his wife Kay, if he wasn’t hanging out with him or going hunting, you could find him sharing conversation with his good buddies.
Our Cherokee Grandmother wouldn’t say Good-bye, she would say, see you later, and we who miss you already say, “we will see you soon.”
Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Tobias Funeral Home.
