David was born on July 7, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, to Louis and Velma Stockler. He attended Stivers High School and joined the Army. He retired after a 32-year career as a cook for the Wright Patterson Air Force Base to spend time with family, friends, and neighbors. David always had a sunny disposition with a bright smile that lit up the room. His favorite times were spent visiting and sharing stories with family, friends, and neighbors. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and always trying to get the “Big One.” He was an avid fan of the Dayton Flyers and Duke University Basketball teams. You always knew David from a distance because he waved to everyone and always said “See you when I see you” as he was leaving the room.
David is survived by his wife Janet Stockler and sons Darren (Tera) Stockler and Matthew (Alicia) Stockler in addition to his grandchildren Fern, Fletcher, and Elyssa. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Velma Stockler, and his siblings Von Stockler, Marvin Stockler, and Doris Anderson.
