Dawn R Head

Dawn Rae Head, age 86, loving wife and mother, passed away Thursday July 24, 2014 at Heartland of Kettering Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Dayton, Ohio. Dawn was born August 23, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late Frank Dixon and Tina (Holloway) Dixon.On July 8, 1950 she married Robert E. Head in Dayton, Ohio, who preceded her in death in 1975. Also preceding her in death was one daughter Shelley Head in 2013.Surviving members of Dawn’s family include one sister Mrs. Fleeta Tekamp (and husband Stan) of Dayton, Ohio; three sons, Shawn Head of Elkins, West Virginia, Kevin Head and Jesse head of Missoula, Montana and one daughter Tara (Head) Thornton and husband Ray of Oneco, Connecticut. Also, four grandchildren: Luke Head and wife Carolyn, Katy Head, Megan Thornton and Sarah Thornton and two great grandchildren, Hannah Davis and Olivia Hewko.Dawn was a model from the mid 1940’s to about 1952 and was runner up for the Tournament of Roses, Rose Bowl Queen in 1947. Dawn was a loving homemaker primarily in Mt. Kisco, New York where she and husband Robert raised their family.At the request of Dawn, her wishes were to be cremated. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. The Tobias Funeral Home of Dayton, Ohio is in charge of funeral arrangements for Dawn Rae Head.
