

Deborah Coughlin Anderson passed from her earthly life surrounded by family on July 14, 2023. She was a loving, devoted and giving wife, mother and grandmother. Deborah was born January 17, 1950 in Dayton Ohio. She and her siblings were raised in the beautiful community of Oakwood where she would continue as a lifetime resident. The tradition continues with all five of her grandchildren now residing in her beloved town.
Deborah was a 1968 graduate of Oakwood High School. She went on to graduate from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and then earned a master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Dayton. Deborah taught Vocal General Music for 37 years. The last 23 years were spent at her alma mater, Harman Elementary School in Oakwood, Ohio. She was honored to be inducted into the Sam Andrews Educational Hall of Honor in 2022. Deborah was a long-time member of The Dayton Music Club.
Deborah’s deepest, most cherished passions were her faith and her family. Nothing brought her greater pride, joy and gratitude. Deborah attended Apex Community Church and University Baptist Church. She enjoyed reflecting on the Sunday sermons, encouraging others in faith and reaching out with compassion to struggling friends and family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Buckley Coughlin; her brother James Coughlin Jr. and her father and mother in-law, Don Dean and Janet Timmons Anderson. Deborah is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, James Thomas Anderson; her two daughters, Kathryn Anderson Lucius (Chris) and Margaret Anderson Pasqualone, Esq. (Nick); brothers Timothy Coughlin, M.D. (Monica) and Robert Coughlin, Esq. (Amy); brothers and sisters in-law, Ralph, Col. USAF ret. and Hyacinth Anderson, CMSgt. USAF ret. and Tim and Patty Anderson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. Deborah was a loving and proud grandmother (Nana) to William, Francesca and Audrina Lucius as well as Maeve and Ernest James (EJ) Pasqualone.
Visitation will be Monday, July 24th at Tobias Funeral Home from 4-7pm. Tobias Funeral Home is located at Far Hills Chapel 5471 Far Hills Ave. Kettering, Ohio 45429. The funeral service will be held at Calvary Cemetery on Tuesday July 25th at 11am. Calvary Cemetery is located at 1625 Calvary Ave, Dayton, OH 45409
