

After several years of failing health, Deborah Kay Roper Hastings went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, in the comfort of her home on October 4, 2017, at the age of 68. Debbie was born on January 23, 1949, in Jacksonville, Texas, to Roger and Irene Roper. Her greatest joy was serving her family as a devoted military wife and a nurturing mother. She also found joy in serving the Lord as a church secretary and working with the Women’s Ministry team for several years bringing support and comfort to her church family. Debbie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lt. Col Hal Hastings, and her three daughters: Dr. Tamara Togliatti (Michael), Mrs. Tara Lee (Jeff), and Mrs. Aimee Halferty (Donnie). She loved her eight grandchildren: Caleb, Nicholas, Jonathan, Rachel, Hannah, Rebekah, Zoe, and Ian. She is also survived by her sister, Sandra Ashby, two nieces, Sherri Wuensch and Kelly Abbot, and great-nephew, Ryan Ashby. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Marcus. A celebration of life will be held at Centerville Church of Christ, 1411 Old Spring Valley Ct, Centerville, Ohio, 45458. Family will receive visitors at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Todd Parsley, minister of Centerville Church of Christ. Reception to follow. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Centerville Church of Christ. Deborah’s final resting place will be Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
