

ELTZROTH, Donald F. of Dayton Ohio, age 89, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012. He was preceded in death by his father, Alva, mother, Sara, and his brother Richard “Dick” Tague Eltzroth. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret (Hageman) Eltzroth; His sons: Richard “Hank” and wife Ulla, John “Jack” and wife Kathryn; Daughter Mary Lorraine “Lonnie” Vilkas; Grandchildren: Steven, Matt (Sophia), Ben (Julie), Tim (Kate), Gary, Sandi (Dino), and Sara (Brendan); As well as ten great-grandchildren. Donald attended Steele High School and graduated from Stiver’s High School in 1941. He met his wife in the Stiver’s band in 1940. Immediately after Pearl Harbor, Donald enlisted in the U.S. Navy and continued to serve through WWII. During his time in the Navy, his two ships, the U.S.S Pritchett and the U.S.S. Henley, were struck by enemy fire and Donald survived many hours in the Pacific before being rescued. Donald loved his country, his family, and his church. Memorial Services will take place at Corinth Presbyterian Church, 4269 Corinth Blvd. Dayton, OH 45410, on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with Reverend David Collins officiating; friends may call on the church before services. Burial will take place afterwards at Woodland Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made in Donald’s honor to Corinth Presbyterian Church, 4269 Corinth Blvd. Dayton, OH 45410.
