Isaac Earl Patrick, 93, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2025. He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Frieda (Naujokaitis), his daughter Sher Patrick, his grandchildren, Rebecca Hall and Raina Paige Patrick, and great-granddaughter Aria Hall, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Earl, as he was known to his friends, family and peers, was born in Welch, WV on August 6, 1932. He grew up in Zanesville, OH and graduated from Zanesville High School. Earl was drafted out of college into the United States Army, and was stationed at Ft. Bliss, TX where he worked on the early guided missile programs. He met Frieda, his yellow rose of Texas, in El Paso while in the army.
A graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Earl began his career in the auto industry working for General Motors - Cadillac Division. A job offer from Reynolds and Reynolds brought the family to Dayton in 1971. Earl worked in sales support and marketing, retiring as a director in 1987.
An avid sports fan, Earl enjoyed baseball, football and basketball. He played basketball in high school and boxed with aspirations of competing in the Golden Gloves. As a young adolescent, he picked the Brooklyn Dodgers as his baseball team following them as a true blue fan for nearly 80 years. Saturdays in the fall found him cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, and in NCAA basketball season, he was a UD Flyer Faithful.
Earl was known for his love of photography and videography, and for always having a camera to his eye at family functions. One of the greatest gifts he gave his family was a video compilation called “The Tale of Two Sisters” tracing the lives of his wife Frieda and her sister, Judy (Naujokaitis) Foster, from war weary Europe to the United States.
His love of travel took Earl on regular cross country trips to visit friends and relatives, often to Lincoln, NE. There were few things he liked more than jumping in the car for a road trip. Whether it was a Caribbean Cruise, a vacation in Hawaii or a trip to Europe, Earl was invested in the history, culture and natural beauty of the destination.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton or the ASPCA.
