

BROHARD, Edward G. “Gorman”, age 78, departed this life Tuesday, November 22, 2011 surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan (Adams) Brohard; parents Ralph and Agnes Brohard, sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Robert Murray. He is survived by his children, Cindy (Wayne) Schneck, Chris (Jeff) Moore and Courtney Sweet; grandchildren Lindsy Moore, Heidi and Gunnar Schneck, Paige and Madison Sweet, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends and United Auto Workers brothers and sisters. Gorman grew up in Ironton, OH and moved to Dayton, OH after graduating from high school. He was hired by Delco Moraine as an apprentice tool and die maker. He received his Journeyman Certification in 1970. He rose through the ranks to become an International Skilled Trades Advisory Committee Representative for region 2B in 1978. He was appointed to the State of Ohio Prison Board by Governor Richard Celeste. He negotiated contracts not only for General Motors employees but for numerous others covered under the U.A.W. “umbrella.” He earned the love and respect of everyone who knew him. He retired from the International Staff in 1994. He participated in many sports through school and adulthood. He coached and refereed baseball and basketball teams for various youth organizations. He was instrumental in the development of the girls basketball programs for parochial and public schools in Beavercreek, OH. He loved and played golf for many years until his health prevented him from continuing. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Drive, Dayton, OH 45420. Interment: Valley View Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
