Edward J. Coughlin

COUGHLIN, Edward J. Jr., age 82, died on November 18, 2011 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Touschard) Coughlin of Centerville, Ohio; their daughter, Catherine Coughlin of Brewer, Maine; and, from a previous marriage, a son, Edward J. and Carol (Rosenbaum) Coughlin III, and 2 grandchildren, Ethan and Kaela Coughlin, all of New York City.

Edward was born in Newton, Massachusetts on February 10, 1929. After attending Boston Latin School, he graduated from Harvard College in 1952 and Harvard Law School in 1955. Ed subsequently worked for ten years as an attorney at a large law firm in New York City. In 1965, he moved to Geneva, Switzerland, where for five years he served in various executive capacities for a large offshore financial conglomerate headed by Bernard Cornfeld. When that firm was liquidated in 1970, he remained in Geneva as a private financial and legal consultant. He returned to the United States in 1994 to retire, settling first in New Hampshire and then in Centerville, Ohio. Ed was known for his positive attitude and sense of humor throughout his life.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- Far Hills Chapel; with Fr. Gary Aultz officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until time of memorial service. The burial will be private.
