Tibby was born in Akron, Ohio to Anne and Walter Kidder. She graduated from St. Vincent High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Dayton. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and later at Trinity Community.
In 1956, Tibby married Raymond Sacksteder. Together, they raised six children and owned and operated Sacksteder’s Cafeteria. Ray passed away in1998.
Years later, Tibby married Dr. Otey Peters of Oakwood. They shared a brief but happy time before his passing in 2010.
In 2011, she married her old friend Stephen Day. They joyfully joined their families, together sharing twelve children, twenty grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
To say that Tibby was greatly beloved is an understatement. Whether you knew her for a lifetime or a single afternoon, her peaceful presence and radiant smile left a warmth in your heart you would not forget. She welcomed all into her home with the heart of a mother and the grace of an angel. She loved deeply and generously—especially her family and friends, but also the animals, flowers, and vegetable garden she so lovingly tended.
Even as her health declined, Tibby remained grateful for the beauty in nature and the love of those around her. Her faith in God remained strong, and she never stopped appreciating life’s small joys.
Tibby is survived by her husband, Steve; her four daughters, Susan, Karen, Katherine, and Joanie; and a large, extended family who will carry her legacy of love forward.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Ann and son Thomas.
A service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 18, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. 456 Woodman Dr, Dayton, OH 45431. A gathering will follow in the church hall to celebrate her life.
