Gail A. Henninger Howell

Age 68 of Dayton, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. Gail was born February 12, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Leonard and Helen Henninger. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Roger D. Howell; son, David and his wife, Cari Howell of New Albany, OH, son, Mike Howell of Kettering, OH and many friends, colleagues and patients. During her youth she loved the outdoors, fishing, crabbing, and looking for arrowheads. After high school Gail attended the University of Florida at Gainesville receiving a BS in Chemistry in 1965, then the University of Miami (Florida) School of Medicine where she received her MD in 1969. In the summer of 1967 she had the opportunity to do research at the University of Freiburg, Germany. During her internship at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton she met and married Rev. Roger D. Howell on August 29, 1970. Gail practiced in various area emergency rooms then joined a group of physicians until retiring in 1999. She developed a great interest in genealogy, photography, traveling, visiting with friends in Ocala, Fla. and updating her childhood home. Friends and family may visit from 6-8:00pm on Friday, July 8, 2011 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BELMONT CHAPEL, 648 Watervliet Ave. Dayton, OH 45420. Funeral service will be 10:00am on Saturday, July 9 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 250 Peach Orchard Ave., Dayton, OH 45419 with Pastor Anthony Sobocinski officiating. Interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, 40 S.
