

Wooten, Glenna (Allen), age 76, of Riverside, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2013 at The Hospice of Dayton. She was born in Malone/West Liberty, Kentucky on October 17, 1936, the only child of William Frank and Wilma (Trusty) Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Paul B. Wooten in 2009, her father, William Frank Allen in 1992 and a grandson, Michael Elmore. Glenna is survived by her devoted son, David L. and wife, Janice Turpin, of Kettering; her loving mother, Wilma Allen, of Dayton; 4 step children, Steve Wooten, of Germantown, Jackie and husband, Jim Keen, of West Carrollton, Ronnie (Jaqui) Wooten, of Texas, Debbie and husband, Mike Bailey, of Miamisburg; 8 grandchildren, Shane (Amy) Hollen, of Georgia, Amy (Willie) Redmond, of Vandalia, Christopher (Samantha) Turpin, of Kettering, Sara Turpin, of Kettering, Angie (Mike) Geiger, of Germantown, Zack (Caitlyn) Wooten, of Bellbrook, Ciarra "C.J." Wooten, of Bellbrook, Michelle (Bill) Fitzpatrick, of West Carrollton;13 great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alyssa, Quincy, Rachel, Corrinna, Jayden, Jackie, Jake, Breanna, Alec, Hunter, Hannah, Giovanni and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by a very special brother-in-law, Ellis and wife, Jeannie Wooten, of Marion, IL and her "adopted son", Skip and wife, Carolyn Vanderhorst and their daughter, Kelly, of Beavercreek. Glenna, being an only child, stayed close to all of her first cousins. She hosted many reunions and kept in contact with all of them. Glenna was a longtime employee of and retired from Associated Springs Barnes Group with 27 years of service. She attended Kiser High School and Richard Weston Cosmetology School becoming a hairdresser at The Beavercreek Beauty Salon and the Purple Poodle Beauty Salon. Glenna was baptized in 1992 at East Dayton Christian Church on Linden Avenue and became a very active member. She had a "Servants Heart" and loved doing the work of the Lord. Her favorite service was to cook at church for all of the many functions Glenna was an active member and Past Matron of Beaver Valley Chapter #570, Order of the Eastern Star until her health began to fail, past member of the Silver Circle, past member of the Knollwood Assembly, Order of Rainbow for Girls Advisory Board . She was a recipient of the Rainbow Grand Cross of Color and a charter member of Charity Court #55, Order of the Amaranth. Glenna loved animals, cooking, sewing, crafts and helping others. She was a strong union supporter, a member of Retirees Local 1177 U.A.W, holding many offices including president of the Retiree's Group and above all was a die hard Democrat. Glenna has touched many lives in her time on earth and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road with Scott VanDyke of East Dayton Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Willow View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2013 with an Eastern Star Service at 5:30 p.m. The family wishes to invite everyone to join them at the church following the interment for a reception and time of fellowship.
