

SHANE, Guy S., 71, beloved husband of Bonnie Shane, passed away on February 8, 2012, at Hospice of Dayton. Guy was born on June 2, 1940 in E. Liverpool, OH and grew up in Hookstown and Hopewell Township, PA. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in 1963 and then served in the United States Army from 1963-1966. He was then employed with the Civil Service Commission in Washington D.C., which included assisting with voting rights in the south during the 1960s. Guy received his master’s degree in 1970 and PhD in 1978 in Industrial Organizational Psychology from George Washington University. Guy loved teaching. He began his teaching career at the University of Baltimore and then moved to Ohio to teach graduate students at the Air Force Institute of Technology. He was also an adjunct professor at Wright State University. Guy is survived by his wife, Bonnie Salay Shane; his three children, Julie Shane, Noah Shane and Adam Shane; his two beloved grandgirls, Skylar and Caley Shane; his brother-in-law David and sister-in-law Barbara Salay; his niece Amy Salay Phillips and nephew Jeffrey Salay and their families, and many wonderful friends who helped make his life fun. Guy loved to travel and he and his wife shared many adventures in the United States and around the world. He had a good life and will be missed by his family and friends. The family thanks the staff of Trinity Community of Beavercreek and Hospice of Dayton for their help and support. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Guy’s name to the Trinity Community Benevolent fund, Hospice of Dayton, or Planned Parenthood of Miami Valley.
