LAMBERT, Helen age 87, died on Christmas morning, Wednesday, December 25, 2013, on her favorite holiday. Helen was born March 15, 1926 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Green and was one of eight children. As a young wife and mother she moved to Grant, Nebraska where she and her husband, David, ran the local hatchery and feed store. In Grant she was a scout leader and active in the 4H activities of her children. She was a long time resident of Centerville, moving there in 1963 where she and her husband, along with several neighbors and friends, were on the Founders Board of the Black Oak Swim Club. Much younger in spirit than her years Helen enjoyed her gardening, her luncheon groups, her neighbors, friends and her family. Helen was the loving mother of four children and created a warm and loving home for her family. Helen delighted in sharing time with her children, nine grandchildren and great granddaughter. Not one to miss a family or neighborhood event, holidays, or a parade or a grandchild's birthday, she celebrated life's moments. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband David Lambert in 1991. She is survived by sons, Charles (Charlotte) Lambert and Michael (Mona) Lambert; daughters, Linda (Steve) Rupp and Betty (Michael) Sellers; a sister, Donna Brehm; brother, Donald Green; grandchildren, Erin, Chance, Dillon, Colton, Kristina, Ceara, Mira, Abigail, and Samantha; great grandchild, Kate. The family will receive guests on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45429. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in David Cemetery. To all those who remember her and mourn her passing we give thanks to you all for filling her life with so many happy experiences. Helen's transition to the Lord came all too quickly. For despite her 87 years, she was forever young. She once shared, a few short years ago, "I don't know how I got old so fast", when in fact she was young until her death. May her memory and love be eternal. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation for Cancer Research, P.O. Box 16810 Columbus, Ohio 43216-6810. Online condolences may be sent to www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
