Henrietta Pennington Tayse, “Penny”, age 92 of Henderson, NV, passed away December 25, 2016 at her home. She was born September 16, 1924 in Waynesville, OH to Henry Pennington and Nora Andes. She worked at Reynolds and Reynolds Company in Dayton for many years. She was an avid follower of news and politics including letter writing and donations. Although she sometimes crossed party lines, her motto was “when in doubt, vote Democrat!” She also loved nature and travel, bird watching, was faithful to her bird feeders, especially her hummingbird feeder, and until the last several months, worked two crossword puzzles a day, including the New York Times crossword puzzle. She was a devoted mother. She spent seven years as a single parent and instilled in her children the value of education, travel, independence and family. When her children were young she was a “room mother” and a Girl Scout leader. She was known for the wonderful Sunday dinners she faithfully prepared for her blended family. Penny is survived by 2 daughters: Teresa Clark Jordan of Henderson, NV and Lynn Clark Engleman (Robert) of Canton, OH, as well as 3 stepchildren Michael Tayse (Liz) of Tipp City, Mitchell Tayse (Cynthia) of Columbus, and Maureen Tayse of New Carlisle, OH and 7 grandchildren: Rachel Tayse, Sarah Tayse, Megan Tayse, and Heather Tayse, all of Columbus, OH, Abigail Tayse Miller of Mount Vernon, OH, Naomi Tayse Miller of Loveland, OH and John Caleb Tayse of Tipp City, OH, as well as 1 great grandchild, Lillian Tayse-Baillieul. She is preceded in death by two husbands: Dennis Calvin Clark in August of 1956 and Donald Lee Tayse in December of 1982. Penny had 7 sisters and 2 brothers; she was the youngest and last surviving child of Henry and Nora. Services will be held privately. The family asks that contributions in Penny’s memory be made to one of her 3 favorite charities: Wounded Warrior Project, St. Joseph’s Indian School, World Wildlife Fund, or Dignity Health Hospice Services, Henderson, NV. The family wishes to thank the staff of Dignity Health Hospice Services for their compassionate care and the above and beyond family support provided.
