went home to be with his Lord on Friday, March 25, 2022. He
was surrounded by family and friends as he took his last breath.
Henry was born to H.C. (Henry Clay) Orton and Cleta Arline (Nicely) Orton on
February 12, 1953, in Southern California. He entered the United States Army July
1975, where he traveled the world. He retired from Ft. Irwin, California in August
of 1994.
As much as he enjoyed and cherished being a father, he found happiness and
fulfillment in being a grandfather. He was very active in his faith; being a member
of the Dayton Bible Chapel community for the last 20 years. He also enjoyed
spending time with his fellow veterans at the Dayton chapter of the American
Legion.
A special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, Technicians and support staff at
Wright Patterson Medical Center Oncology Clinic, 3rd Floor Inpatient Unit and ICU.
They treated him with dignity and as a friend these last two decades. They never
forgot that he was a Veteran and not just a disease.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents H.C. and Cleta Arline Orton and sister
Edna “Beth” Greer. He is survived by his wife Patricia L. Orton, daughters Patricia
A. (Jose) Orton, Cassandra L. (Logan) Markko, Haley E. (Zackary) Orton, and Emily
Arline Orton; grandchildren Madison Amilia Orton, Ryleigh Ranae Starner, and
Finn Michael Markko; brother Edward D. Orton, and nieces and nephews Victor
Sardon, Tricia Ellis, Kandace Orton, Steven Orton, Shawn Greer, as well as
numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, April 4, 2022, at the Tobias
Funeral Home- Beavercreek Chapel. Interment will follow at the Dayton National
Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Tobias funeral home from 11:30
until the time of services on Monday, April 4.
Memorial contributions may be made in Henry’s name to the American Cancer
Society.
