

STOVALL, Henry, age 86 of Beavercreek, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Miami Valley South Hospital. A son, David A. Stovall, preceded him in death in 2011. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Stovall, and two sons: John S. (Ann Marie) Stovall of Sugarcreek Twp., and Richard K. (Deanna) Stovall of Worthington, eight grandchildren: David Allen Stovall, Jr., Lauren (Jeremy) Loney, Michael Stovall, Jacob Stovall, Philip Stovall, Melissa (Joe) Potter, Leslie Stovall and Kevin Stovall, and a great granddaughter, Eliana Loney. He is also survived by a brother, James R. (Gwen) Stovall of LA, and a sister, Dorothy (Herbert) Stewart of VA.
A native of Wolfe County, KY, Henry was a graduate of the Hazel Green Academy which his parents ran for many years. He earned his undergraduate degree at Transylvania College in Lexington, KY and a Master’s of Education from UK. He also earned an Administrative Specialist Certificate from Miami University. He began his career as an educator in Spring Valley, Ohio, but soon accepted a position as an elementary principal in Beavercreek, serving more than 30 years at Fairbrook and West Main Elementary schools. He was a mentor to many student-teachers over his professional career. Upon retirement from the public schools, he worked as a student-teacher supervisor for both Wright State and UD. He was active at both the state and national levels with the National Association of Elementary School Principals. He had a genuine love for all children and his career was dedicated to them. Henry was a US Army Veteran of the Korean era stationed at Ft. Smith, AR. He was a member of the Miami Valley Folk Dancers.
Friends may call at the Tobias Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018. A memorial service will be held immediately following visitation with Pastors Joe Redmond and Larry Stroble officiating. Henry bequeathed his body for anatomical study at Wright State University.
