Jackie was devoted to her husband, Joseph “Joe” Ewing. They enjoyed 63 years together, including 59 years of marriage. They were high school sweethearts. Jackie’s memory will be forever cherished by Joe and their beloved son, Joseph, whom Jackie lovingly called “Joey” (Stacey); her grandsons, Joshua “Josh”, Andrew “AJ”, and Calvin; her sisters Judi (Doug) Metzger, Mary Ellen Moorman, and Candice “Candy” (Rick) Faulkner; as well as several other close family members and friends. Jackie was preceded in death by her daughter Denise (lovingly called “Dee Dee”); her parents Shirley Rhoades (Goodall) and Clyde “Charlie” Jones; her brother Skip Rhoades, her sister and brother-in-law Janet “Janey” and James “Jim” Tames, and her brother-in-law Dave Moorman.
Jackie graduated from Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio. This is where she met the love of her life. She worked for a few doctor’s offices as a receptionist, but her true passion was at home raising her children.
To know Jackie, was to love Jackie. She loved life and was bubbly and friendly to everyone she met. Her three grandsons meant the world to her as did her handful of best girlfriends. She loved to travel with her husband, Joe, as well as with family and friends. Jackie enjoyed cooking and baking and her reputation of such was quite amazing. She was always searching for new recipes to try. She also loved to go out to eat with friends and try new restaurants. Jackie was a passionate fan of baseball - from the Cincinnati Reds to the Dayton Dragons to whatever team her grandsons were playing on. She was always the loudest one in the stands. She was the heart of every gathering and lived her life to the absolute fullest. As we remember Jackie, we celebrate a life marked by an enduring legacy of love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A gathering for Jackie Ewing will be held at Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave Dayton, Ohio 45429 on Monday, September 23 from 4:00 - 7:00pm.
