

Traphagen, James A. (Trap) age 87 passed away on January 20, 2017 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born in Geneva, New York on June 13, 1929 to the late Parks Van Nest and Mary (Sick) Traphagen. Jim graduated from Geneva High School in 1947 and SUNY at Alfred, New York in 1954. He also completed an enlistment with the USAF between 1948 and 1952, serving 30 months in the far east. He joined the NCR Corporation Field Engineering Division in 1955 and later joined the corporate office in International Manufacturing and Corporate Purchasing retiring in 1992. Following his retirement, he began volunteering yearly as a tax aide for AARP, most recently at Hithergreen Senior Center. James was preceded in death by Anne O’Brien Traphagen , his wife of 51 years and a sister Doris Traphagen. He is survived by his daughters, Kathryn of Fairborn, Barbara (Ted) Hecht, and Susan (Andy) Quinter of Dayton, Grandchildren Brian, Kelly, Julie Hecht, Carley, Allie and Drew Quinter and sister Bernice Pettit of Morgan Hill, CA and brother Robert (Barbara) Traphagen of Fort Worth, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 am Tuesday January 24, 2017 at the Church of the Incarnation 7415 Far Hills Ave Centerville, Ohio 45459. Father Chris Worland celebrant. Friends may call from 4-7 pm Monday January 23, 2017 at the Tobias Funeral Home-Far Hills Chapel 5471 Far Hills Ave at Rahn Rd. Interment will be private at a later date.
