On Sunday, October 22, 2023, our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, relative and friend left this Earth to be with her Lord. Janet Van Arsdale, age 85 of Kettering, Ohio, will be remembered for her way of making everyone feel comfortable and welcome regardless whether she knew them for years or a few minutes. She’ll be remembered for how she cheered on her grandkids through all their activities and through life as they build their own paths in the world. She’ll be remembered for her steadfastness in her beliefs and her dedication to starting each day at mass. She’ll be remembered for being fearless with a willingness to try new things at any age. She reminds us all that every day is a gift that should be cherished and that we should all be courageous, take chances, have fun, and spend time with those we love. Janet demonstrated this by the many occasions she spent with family, her classmates from St. Martins, the St. Charles NAIM Club and the Milbern Manor Garden Club. She graduated in 1956 from Mercy High School in Cincinnati and moved to Kettering, Ohio, in 1968 with her husband and two children. She worked in the office of Dr. Ronald Kahn for over 30 years until her retirement at age 82. Janet is proceeded in death by her husband of 45 years, Donald Van Arsdale; her parents, Ed and Ruth Kenning; her sister, Joan Marzheuser. Survived by her sister, Nancy (Eric Gates); her children Denny Van Arsdale and wife Patty; Connie Hill; grandchildren Brian Van Arsdale (Michaela Forsythe), Kari Green (David), Taylor Hill and Jordan Hill, and great grandson Braxton Van Arsdale. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Kettering, Ohio 45429. A 10:30 a.m. mass will be conducted on Monday, October 30, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45429.
