

Jerome J. McGarry (Jerry), age 84 of Dayton Oh. and Clearwater Fl. Jerry was born on 5/10/28,the son of John and Eva McGarry (dec)and died peacefully on 6/5/12 after a brief illness, with his family by his side. Preceded in death by brothers; Leo and Michael McGarry. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years Mary Lou; seven children Patty Morrisey, Kathy Brewster (Robert (dec)), Jerry Jr (Brenda), Dan (Beth), Bob (Cheryl), Tami (Francesco), Chris (Ruthi); Nineteen grandchildren,Robin Morrisey, Jenny Smith, Meghan Brewster, Colleen Kirby, Jon and Jason McGarry, Matthew McGarry, Kevin, Brian, Jamie, and Madelyn McGarry, Nate and Nick Kesling, Shane’ and Tula McGarry, Colin, Ian, Molly and Riley McGarry; Six Great Grandchildren, Luke and Leo Baumgardner, Rylan Smith, Robert Harshman, Ella Carusone, Ty Kirby; Sisters, Rita Duane and Mary Wiedemann(Ernie); along with numerous nieces , nephews and friends. Graduate of Chaminade HS (1946) and the University of Dayton (1950), he enjoyed 29 years of retirement after a 30 year civilian government career with the US Air Force.Upon his retirement, he received the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal (the highest civilian Air Force award). He was a founding member of St Helen Parish, also a charter member of the Milton Athletic Club.Jerry was a handsome lad, who lived life to the fullest, loved his family and was most proud of his children and grandchildren. He was a handyman who could fix anything, frequently helping those less fortunate. He enjoyed adventure, including a recent tour of Ireland with his daughter. He was a great dancer who loved American flags, parades, and marching with his drum. He enjoyed working outdoors, feeding the squirrels, and home grown tomatoes. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. We will miss you always.The family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the funeral home . Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m.at St. Helen Catholic Church, 5100 Burkhardt Road, Riverside, Ohio. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made be made to the Robert Brewster Memorial Scholarship Fund (CO Carroll HS. 4524 Linden Ave Dayton, Ohio 45432).
