

Jerry W. MCCLUER, 76, of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents Gerald & Mabel (Hurlow) McCluer. He is survived by his loving wife Janet M. (McCarley) McCluer; two children, Kevin W. McCluer (Lisa Marie (Szopa) McCluer) and Kathryn G.(McCluer) Banks (Joseph Banks); sisters, Barbara (McCluer) Rutledge of Proctorville, OH, and Marilyn (McCluer) Wisecup of Harrod, OH; brother, Gene McCluer (Jean (Ellis) McCluer) of Harrod, OH; grandchildren, Alexander & Andrew Banks and Kaleb & Joshua McCluer. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Julie (McCarley) LaPolt, as well as many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jerry graduated from Auglaize Local High School in Harrod, Ohio in 1963. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from The Ohio State University in 1967. In December 1967, Jerry joined the United States Air Force (USAF) and in March 1968, he and Jan began their 53 years of marriage. Jerry served 20 years in the USAF and retired at the rank of Major. He earned his Aviator Rating (Wings) as an F-4 Phantom Weapon Systems Officer (WSO), and he served during the Vietnam War as a member of the Black Sheep Squadron, call-sign "Mickey". He completed a four-year tour in West Germany, where he also earned a Masters Degree in Business from Troy State University. He served as an Exchange Officer with the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he flew in the F-101 Voodoo. Jerry also served as an Executive Officer for Red Flag at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jerry's last active duty assignment was as a liaison officer for the Air Force Logistics Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
After retiring from his military career, Jerry worked at UES in Beavercreek. In 1996, Jerry earned a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from the Cincinnati Bible Seminary. He interned at the Monday Correctional Institute before he opened his own business, JMAC Counseling Center, in Beavercreek, from 1998-2018.
In his lifetime, Jerry was a Cub Scout leader in British Columbia, as well as a Boy Scout leader in Las Vegas. He was an Elder at Beavercreek Christian Church for over 20 years. He volunteered in the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for the Victim Witness Program, with Family Life Marriage Ministries, and as a Chaplain for the Beavercreek Fire Department.
In addition to all of his great work, Jerry was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and mentor. He was a man of great faith and integrity! The world is a better place because of him!
Family will receive visitors at Beavercreek Christian Church, 3009 Shakertown Rd., on Saturday, November 13 from 1-4 p.m. Jerry's Celebration of Life Service is at 4:00 p.m. Private Burial will take place at a later date.
