Joanne Barbara Lorette passed away on December 31, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. She was born on July 3, 1951, at the United States Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the eldest child of LTC Richard J. Lorette (USAF Ret.) and Barbara L. Debnam.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents, her sister Judith M. Russell of Frederick, MD, and her eldest son, Michael Anthony Sperandio of White Plains, New York.
Joanne graduated from Fairborn High School in 1969 and then attended Wright State University. She then moved to New York City, New York where she worked as an advertising assistant for Hearst Publications and Cosmopolitan Magazine, in addition to modeling contract work for The Eileen Ford Modeling Agency, before marrying Anthony Sperandio. They later had two sons, whom they raised in Katonah, a suburban community of New York City, where both children excelled in academics and sports. Joanne enjoyed volunteering at her son’s schools in the Somers School District in New York and loved cooking for her family and their friends.
After raising her two sons, she moved from New York to Virginia where she pursued a career in cosmetic sales with Clinique, Lancôme and Estee Lauder Cosmetics. She later moved to Beavercreek, Ohio where she continued working with Estee Lauder as a counter manager. Joanne had a gentle, sensitive demeanor and considered her cosmetic career to be her personal ministry, helping women to feel attractive while at the same time showing them how happy a woman could be who knows the Lord. Furthermore, Joanne’s faith was such an important part of her life, and it manifested itself in every aspect of her life which underscored her strong relationship with God that she shared with all her family and friends.
Joanne is survived by her son, Steven Lawrence (Jessica) Sperandio and Joanne’s beloved six year old granddaughter, Stella Victoria Sperandio all of whom reside together in Miami, FL. Ms. Lorette is also survived by her sisters Jeanne Marie (Gary) Lorette-Levy of Frederick, Maryland and Patricia Ann (Bradley) Phillips of Beavercreek, Ohio; her loving stepmother of over 50 years, Janet Biebel Lorette of Mesa, Arizona; nieces and nephews Christine (Kyle) Edwards of Upper Arlington, Ohio, Jennifer (CMDR Christopher, USN) Speicher of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Elizabeth Mahon of Washington DC, Sarah (LTC David USAF) Mueller of Dayton, Ohio, Rachel (Anthony) Pyle of Dayton, Ohio, Daniel (Meagan) Phillips of Beavercreek, Ohio; and her very best friend, Carol O’Toole of Somers, New York.
Joanne’s family wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to the staff and friends at Macy’s Fairfield Commons, to the lifelong and new friends that visited Joanne often, and most especially wishes to thank Joanne’s Hospice of Dayton Home Care Team for their amazing care.
