Born on June 11, 1937 in Port Heron, Michigan, he was the son of Raleigh and Bessie Morrison. Jobe earned a degree in Pulp and Paper Science Engineering from Western Michigan University in 1960. On a blind date at WMU he met Julia, the woman destined to be his wife of 50 years. Together they raised three daughters – Susan, Nancy, and Cathy. Jobe’s career moved his family back and forth across the country. They lived in Oregon, Arizona, Indiana, New York, and Ohio as he honed his craft while working for a range of companies. He was committed to the science of recycled paper, a topic on which he testified in Congressional Hearings in the 1990’s. He finished his career as the President of the Miami Paper Company in West Carrolton, Ohio, retiring in 1999.
Jobe enjoyed time spent with family members, from summers at Spofford Lake to Christmas seasons on Sanibel Island. He was a devout Christian who found fellowship at Fairhaven Church (Dayton) and Grace Community Church (Spofford).
An avid fly fisherman, Jobe spent many hours on the water perfecting his cast. He was happiest when chasing Atlantic salmon, a passion that brought him across the world – to the Ponoi and Zhupanova Rivers in Russia, the Rio Grande in Argentina, the Rio Nireguao in Patagonia Chile, and the Miaramichi River in New Brunswick Canada.
Jobe is survived by his three daughters: Susan Donahue and husband, Charlie, of Keene, New Hampshire, Nancy Tebeau and husband, Rik, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Cathy Lane of Springboro, Ohio; eight treasured grandchildren: Patrick (Laura), Lauren, Luke, and Colleen Donahue, Kaitlin and Cassidy Tebeau, Audrey and Stuart Lane, and his namesake great-grandson Jobe. He is survived by his sister, Dixie Morrison Stebbins of Pennsylvania, and predeceased by his brother Raleigh and sister Mindy.
A private graveside service will be held in October when Jobe will be laid to rest next to his beloved Julia in Chesterfield, New Hampshire. Donations in Jobe’s memory are welcome at Fairhaven Church (937 E. Whipp Road Centerville, Ohio 45459), Grace Community Church (P.O. Box 120, Spofford, NH 03462), or Hospice of Dayton (324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420).
