

Barrett, John R. “Jack”, age 75, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 20, 2021. He was born in Dayton on September 7, 1945, the son of the late Raymond Edward and Virginia (Stupp) Barrett. He is also preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Lutes and Betty Snyder, brother-in-law Arthur Lutes, niece Cathy Zeigler, and his father-in-law, Louie Wilburn. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Theda C. (Wilburn); three sons, Sean and wife, Darlene, Jeremy and wife, Serra, Jeffrey and wife, Carlie; seven grandchildren, Raelyn, Laynee, Jackson, Jude, Charlotte, Bailey and Riley; his mother-in-law, Rosa Wilburn; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael Wilburn, Joan Wilburn, Stan (Irma) Wilburn, Kim (Steve) Quick. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was a graduate of Nettie Lee Roth High School in Dayton and had attended Miami University in Oxford. He retired after many years of dedicated service from Sun Chemical Company as a shipping and receiving clerk. Jack was an active member of Dayton First Church of the Nazarene where he was involved as a Sunday School teacher, bus driver, choir member and active in music ministry. He enjoyed singing and traveling in several gospel quartets throughout his years. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 7031 North Main Street, Dayton with Pastor John Stone officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the services on Sunday, August 29, 2021. Interment will be in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens.
