John Joseph Mccarthy Jr.

Age 82, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away February 11th, 2017. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on January 27th, 1935. John was the son of John Sr. and Dorothea (Frey) McCarthy. John was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and a true Irishman at heart. He had a great sense of humor and loved the Reds, Bengals, and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 35 years, Patricia A. (Sutter) McCarthy, and dear brother, Charles McCarthy. John is survived by his 3 children, Teresa Olding, Bryan (Jill) McCarthy, and Margie (Brenden) Gitzinger. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Angela Mae (Fred) Schubert and 3 grandchildren, Brittany Olding, Matthew Olding, and Gracie Gitzinger. Visitation will be 5-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 16th at Tobias Funeral Home – Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, February 17th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Springboro, Ohio. Final resting place will be Calvary Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Hospice of Dayton.
