PLATTEN, John R. (Jack), age 92, passed away peacefully September 21, 2011 at his home in Kettering. Jack was born August 8, 1919 in Jersey City, NJ. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dolly; his daughter Pamela Rusick ; his son and daughter-in-law David and Babs Platten; and his four grandchildren, Bradford Rusick, Erica Rusick, Randall Platten and Paulina Platten. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired as Captain in 1946. After his service he held a position as an industrial engineer at the Continental Can Company. Ultimately he moved his family to Kettering where he worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for more than 25 years. The family would like to thank the care givers with Home Instead, as well as the nurses, social workers, aids and chaplains with The Hospice of Dayton, for their comfort and care which allowed Jack to remain in his home during this last year.
