

Passed away suddenly at Home on Friday July 7th, 2023, at the young age of 74. She was born on January 6th, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio
Karen was preceded in death by her father Jack R. Barnard and mother Rose E. Barnard. She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) F. Steiger. Her two sons Bryan (Aimee) DeLong and Toby (Susana) DeLong. Grandchildren Cameron, Regan, Brooke, Hogan, Lucy, Vida, Naydeen, Jesus and Jorge. Great-grandchildren Isa and Emiliano. Siblings Pamela (John) Sloffman, Diane Westhafer, Rosann Patterson, John (Terri) Barnard, and Marilou (Dave) Beckley.
Karen was a loving Wife, Mother, Grand Mother and Great Grand Mother whose life revolved around her family. She worked for more than 55 yrs. 22 years spent at Bell Optical and the last 20 years of that at Boonshoft Center for Jewish Culture and Education, until she retired in August of 2022. Her greatest enjoyment there was greeting all the little children as they arrived for day school every morning. Karen was also a lifelong member of the NRA and a member of SASS (Single action Shooting Society) where Karen aka “Rose and Bob aka “Wilbur” Both were staples in the Cowboy action Shooting community. Karen was also a passionate reader and an avid gardener. She enjoyed going to Flee markets and garage sales with her Husband Bob looking for hidden treasures.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday July 12, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm at Tobias Funeral Home 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, OH 45429 with a Memorial to follow at 7pm.
