

Kathleen “Kathy” (Childress) McKamey went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 23, 2021. She was born June 8, 1925 in Pioneer, Tennessee to Maggie and Ralph Childress. She lived and worked in LaFollette, TN before coming to Dayton, OH. Kathy graduated from Pioneer Grammar School, Jacksboro High School and Jefferson City Business College. She worked for Idol’s Department Store in LaFollette, TN and for Jackson Electrical Instrument Company in Dayton. She retired from United Aircraft Corporation and also Nord Resources Corporation as an accountant. She was an active member of The First Baptist Church of Kettering. Kathy was saved at the age of 12 in a small church in Pioneer, TN and has taught children’s Sunday school classes in Tennessee, Florida and Ohio for many years. She also sang in church choirs in Ohio and Florida. She has served in many church offices in Ohio and Florida, including church clerk, nursery coordinator, audit and nominating committees and other offices. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maggie and Ralph Childress; loving husband of many years, James E. McKamey Sr.; her sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Johnny Miller; brother-in-laws, Herman Byrd and Aubrey Cook; three brothers, Robert, Herbert and Albert Childress and two nephews, Larry and Don Byrd. She is survived by her children, Linda McKamey of Kettering and James McKamey Jr., of Texas; special grandson, Reverend Dustin (Nikki) McKamey of Miamisburg; great-grandson, Ronan McKamey; sister, Mattie Cook of Maryville, TN; sister-in-law, Oda Childress of Dayton; brother-in-law, Ralph McKamey of Dayton; nieces, Robin Colvin, Janie Napier, Karen Francis and Diane Green; nephews, Tim Childress and son Bronson, John Miller, Jimmy Ray Miller and Ron Byrd; special friends, Floss and Alf Waggener, Jeannie Waggener/Snell; Judy and Herman Blair and many more loving family and friends. Special thank you to caregivers Mike Shaw and Dorothy Spang for all their care. Funeral will take place at Tobias Funeral Home – Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420 at 12pm on Friday, October 29, 2021 with burial to immediately follow at Centerville Cemetery, 68 Maple Avenue, Dayton, OH 45459. Visitation will be held from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday. In lieu of flowers contributions in Kathy’s memory may be sent to First Baptist Church of Kettering Building Fund, 3939 Swigart Road, Dayton, OH 45440.
