She is preceded in death by her parents Verl and Violet Hawbecker, and her sister Shirley Jean Brown of Marion, OH.
Margie was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 30, 1934, and continued to live there upon her high school graduation until meeting her sweetheart, Victor Jr.—a student at Ohio State at the time. Together, they shared a beautiful marriage of 65 ¾ years. They lived in several towns over 6 years across the United States before ultimately settling in Dayton, Ohio in 1965, whereupon the pair raised two wonderful boys, Steve and Victor III. Marjorie’s sons were undoubtedly her pride and joy, and she raised them to love family fiercely. She was an active member of her community as much as she was part of her own family, engaging with the local residents, politicians, school boards, bus drivers and even their own barber. She was also involved in charitable volunteer work, most notably for the Heart Association Center, the Cancer Society and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. One of the many lovable things about her was how she always had an affinity for people, despite her inherent “shy” nature—no one was ever a stranger.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Victor A. Crainich, Jr. and two sons Steven (Linda) Crainich and Victor (Julie) Crainich III. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Christina, Samantha, Nicholas and James Crainich, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Margie’s name at www.stjude.org
